The combination of white flowers and yellow bracts in the Lollipop Plant, Pachystachys lutea, a native of Peru, resembles a similar, but differently coloured combination in the Shrimp Plant, Justicia brandegeeana . The Brazilians therefore call this plant 'Camarão amarelo' (Yellow Shrimp).

The spherical heads of the Blood Lily, 'Lírio-de-sangue', can contain up to two hundred flowers, each with pronounced stamens.
